Jack E. Smith was born March 13, 1932 in Winnfield, Louisiana.
His wife is Geneva Garner Smith. They have 2 children, a son and a daughter. Their son John is married to Lisa and they have 2 children, Ashley and Lindsey. Their daughter Jeannine is married to Kris Kessinger and they have a daughter Alyson. They attend Montgomery United Methodist Church. Jack attended Atlanta High School and graduated in 1950. He then went to Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, La. with a major in social science and a minor in English. He received a B.A. in 1954 and a M. Ed. in 1961. His major was educational administration and minor in social science. He then attended University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark. for an Ed. D. in May 1969 with a major in educational administration and a minor in counselor education. He did his post doctoral study in 1974 at North Texas State University in Denton, TX. Jack was in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957. He was a teacher, coach, counselor, assistant principal, principal, and superintendent of schools in the public schools of Louisiana for 23 years. He worked in high education (college and university) for 23 years. He retired from Southwestern Oklahoma State University on January 1, 2000. He participated in all the activities on all the various campuses where he worked as well as the local clubs and lodges.His hobbies are gardening, hunting, fishing, and Christian or Gospel Music. He also enjoys his family members. They greatly enhance his life and provide purpose for it. Jack especially enjoys being an original member of the Pine Ridge Quartet.
